Life's Driving Strength

by Mary, written for Lydia

"To touch, to move, to inspire - this is the true gift of dance.

Aubrey Lynch

Justin's eyes read every word, every letter even, of the small article in the Sunday edition of The New York Times and read it again, his mind trying to wrap around the critic's thoughts. The air in the apartment was cool on his skin as he sat at the kitchen table, the rays of the sun barely able to get through the curtains that were drawn tight.
"Hey." Justin looked up and smiled when JC padded into the kitchen, his eyes still half-closed and only clothed in pajama bottoms. "What time is it?"

"Barely 7," Justin watched JC open the refrigerator door and take out the carton of orange juice, pouring himself a glass then holding it up in question to Justin. "Sure, thanks." The glass slid in front of him and he couldn't help the shiver run through his body when JC leaned down to press a kiss to his temple. "Morning."

"Why are you up so early?" He sat in the chair next to Justin, his foot moving next to Justin's, tucking his other foot beneath his thigh on the chair.

"You get used to getting up this early." He wiggled his toes a bit at JC's ankle. "Isn't that why you're awake?"

JC nodded. "Well, that, and I don't think I've ever missed a day of morning stretches ever since I started dancing." He stood slowly. "You don't mind, do you?"

"Of course not." Justin's gaze followed JC to the center of the living room and every move JC made caused Justin's body to remember the night before. As JC moved the furniture slightly for more room that fit his liking, Justin remembered the battle for power between the two of them, especially when JC's arms flexed while moving the table out of the way. And as JC did the warm-up stretches every dancer knew, he remembered vividly and let a shiver run through his body.

The soft bites and soothing licks against his neck.
The press of fingers against his arm as they both fought for control.
The sigh that he had released when JC finally won the battle.
The feel of smooth, toned muscle moving over him.
Of the burn that filtered through the core of his very being.
Of the twisting and aching of limbs.
Of the pull of his body towards JC's.
Of the release that came ripping through him.

Justin knew, in the back of his mind, that JC gave every single dance performance everything he had and the night before, Justin learned that it was JC's way of doing everything.

Justin jerked back into reality when a pair of cool lips pressed against his cheek, dangerously close to his mouth. "Lost in thought?" JC murmured to him before bringing his finger up to Justin's chin and after angling Justin's face towards him, JC kissed him, his lips opening to capture Justin's breath. When he pulled away, his eyes had deepened to a dark color, one Justin remembered very well. "Anything to do today?" he asked Justin innocently, as if he didn't know the Studio Company's schedule by now, but Justin refused to go easily to JC; after all, that had been half the fun last night.

"Not with the company, but maybe I have other plans." Justin stood and cocked his hip to lean into JC. "You understand, don't you?" He let a smile float across his lips. "Let me kiss you good-bye?" Before JC could answer, Justin's hands gripped JC's waist and his lips pressed firmly against JC's. His fingers tightened on the skin above the lounge pants before skimming down beneath its waistband.

"You're not leaving," JC let out in a breath as he brought his hand up to the back of Justin's neck, pulling him in for a kiss. "Not for a while."
